Kwun Tong District Council “Home Water Leakage Knowledge Seminar” Successfully Held | SILVER SURVEYORS Invited as Keynote Speaker
The “Home Water Leakage Knowledge Seminar”, organised by the Kwun Tong District Council and the Kwun Tong West Constituency Service Team, was successfully held on Wednesday, 19 August 2026 at Kai Yip Community Hall, Kai Yip Estate, Kowloon Bay. SILVER SURVEYORS was honoured to be invited as the keynote speaker for the event, represented by our Senior Surveyor and Chief Expert Mr. Gary Leung.
Drawing on over 10 years of water seepage investigation experience and more than 5,000 handled cases, Gary explained in an accessible yet professional manner the common sources of domestic water leakage in Hong Kong, including seepage from upper floors, external walls, communal drainage pipes, and rooftop/terrace waterproofing failures. He also provided a detailed comparison between government procedures (handled by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department) and private surveying firms, highlighting the limitations of official reports in legal claims. Gary introduced several scientifically proven detection methods accepted by the courts, such as high-definition infrared thermography, microwave tomography, conductive moisture testing, fluorescent dye tracing, water sample chemical analysis, flow meter testing, and industrial borescope inspection.
The seminar featured real case studies, including three typical projects: Elegant Garden in Chai Wan (external wall seepage), Bel-Air on the Peak (South Horizon) in Pok Fu Lam (terrace waterproofing failure), and Riviera Gardens in Tsuen Wan (upper floor drainage pipe leakage). These examples demonstrated how SILVER SURVEYORS uses scientific techniques to pinpoint leak sources, quantify losses, and assist clients in successful claims.
The audience responded enthusiastically, with an active Q&A session where many residents raised practical questions. Participants commented that the content was highly useful and gave them a new understanding of water leakage issues.
